Deciding to become a Foster Carer is a unique career choice.
Fostering is rewarding, challenging and great fun. When you embark on your fostering career with us you will become part of a great team doing their best for each and every young person. At the Fostering Company we do everything we can to support your decision and make sure it’s right for you.
You may have worked with children and young people in your professional life or you may have cared for children or young people who are relatives or friends. You might be single or living with your partner, male or female, gay or straight and from any ethnic background. You might be 25 or 65. You could be living in rented accommodation or in your own home.
If you enjoy looking after children and young people and can work in partnership with families and professionals we would like to hear from you. We provide you with extensive training that is ongoing throughout the year as well as 24/7 support.



What is the fostering company?
The Fostering Company is an independent fostering agency based solely in the North East of England, driven by social workers with a proven track record in fostering.
We work with seven North East councils (Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham) to provide successful fostering options for children and young people who need them.
We are dedicated to helping children and young people by creating supportive, consistent and enriching fostering environments, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
The Fostering Company is run on a 'not for profit' model ensuring we invest back into the agency to maintain very high standards of care and to offer additional support for children and carers.

Who could become a foster carer?
Anyone who is:
- Over 25 years of age
- Married, in a civil partnership, divorced, single, or living with a partner
- From any cultural, religious, ethnic and social background
- Living in the North East of England
- Renting or a home owner with enough space to accommodate a child
- In good health
- A parent or not, although experience of what it means to care for a child would be useful
- Non smokers
- Able to drive and who owns a car
